Our History

One of the first locally owned independent insurance brokers in Kenya’s history. Berkshire & Hathaway has transitioned from a domestic insurance brokerage firm, to a globally recognized organization specializing in insurance, reinsurance and risk advisory.

The firm is fully licensed by the  IRA (Kenya) and a member of the Kenyan Council of Registered Insurance Brokers.

Berkshire & Hathaway has a long history of enabling clients avoid, control, mitigate and transfer risks. Leveraging on our investment in our human capital, deep client relationship, Insuretech investment, and market leading innovations.

Currently we employ over 25 professionals, manage over 150 corporate & SME clients annually, and deploy Kenya’s only broker platform for customers (www.berkshirehathaway.co.ke)

Our corporate client base is spread across all industry sectors. The major ones are infrastructure, manufacturing, oil and gas operations, petrochemicals, power production and distribution, agri-business, hospitality, logistics and financial institutions.

A number of our clients have multinational parents and Berkshire & Hathaway offers the benefits of a strong understanding of the local market combined with global insurance standards. This allows us to compliment the risk management teams of our clients and satisfy both local and international stakeholders.

We also deploy our bespoke online platform, which allows clients to take control of their insurance portfolio and monitor claim performance.

As the only Kenyanbroker accepted as a member of the Worldwide Brokers Network, the largest network of independent brokers in the world, we are uniquely placed to access international capacity where allowed by regulation.
